We had a huge turkey dinner with all the Thanksgiving-like trimmings at the home of some friends Saturday night, so now I feel like I've looped back fully around and am anticipating Christmas all over again. Which was bringing me joy aplenty until I jokingly reminded Al that the weekend of Thanksgiving's when we traditionally do the decorating, so could he please run down in the basement and bring up all the forty-leven bins marked "Holiday Decor," and he looked me straight in the eye without even the vaguest hint of a smile, put on his coat and walked directly out the front door and kept going until I finally dashed out into the front yard and yelled after him that I was terribly sorry and yes, maybe it was too soon to even joke about such things seeing as how he'd just hauled the final one of those same bins down the stairs Tuesday night after he got home from work.
So, I will just wait a bit and serve him some of the leftover turkey (with fresh gravy, of course) around Valentine's Day and see how things go then.
The kids have started their lists for Santa just in case.
