Not Now, I'm Busy Eatin' Leftover Turkey Sammiches

Y'all. My husband hasn't ever eaten a turkey sandwich on a leftover yeast roll. Those Southern Georgians...(Rolls eyes.) Cripes!

I need to blog, but all I can think about right now is me, in my new red kitchen, draggin' out all of the leftovers from Thursday and building myself a big ol' Dagwood sammich, piled high with stuffing, turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce. And a plenty o' mayo and a dash salt. And my extra-special, double-secret ingredient, a tiny sliver of a slice of a zingy little pepperoncini. Hot stuff, right where you least expect it.

You know, to create the element of surprise while eating, and for several hours afterwards. Urp!

So tell me, what do y'all like on YOUR turkey sammiches?

  1. Cranberry sauce. I am not much of a sandwich person but 10 years ago after Thanksgiving I was acting wierd and eating tons of turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce and pickles. Six days later I realized I was pregnant with our first child. That is my only pickle incident, thank you.

  2. Well, I loves me a little turkey in the slaw, but not necessarily on the leftover turkey sammies. Hubs is upstairs cooking up hot turkey grinders for our dinner. I'll leave the trimmin' to him; he is the master. Those mashed potatoes are history by the way...and so is the corn.

  3. I like mine with lots and lots of mayo and some cranberry sauce.

The pepperoncini intrigues me though, I must admit.

  4. Mine are a little boring - a nice soft bun with just a little mayo and some turkey. Delicious!

  6. oooo...leftover turkey sandwhichs are the best!! Stuffing, a layer of mashed potatos, gravy, turkey, mayo, more taters, more turkey and another layer of gravy. Nice and messy, and perfect!

  7. Leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches are best on leftover dinner rolls - just the roll, some turkey, mayo and some celery salt. The celery salt is the secret ingredient! We made our leftover mashed potatoes into lefse (a yummy Norwegian treat) today so ours are gone also.

  8. I am not much of a turkey sandwich person, I just love to eat all the leftovers on my plate again. A repeat of the dinner the night before.

    but you mustn't forget
    a thin onion slice

then a spoon full o' mayo
    on a lightly toated roll
    a warm turkey sammich
    is good for the soul!

  11. Turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce, stuffing and a bit of gravy and I'm in contented, guilt-free bliss...
... but not until December. Since I'm Canadian and all.

  16. Well, I want what you were having but sadly, we did not have Thanksgiving at home so ... no leftovers, no sammiches...
